Want to Win a Lifetime Supply of Oysters?

March 15, 2013
By Skyler Bouchard

Calling all oyster lovers! There is a slim chance that you could receive up to one dozen free oysters cooked any way you’d like, every day, for the rest of your life. This may sound too good to be true, but lucky for you, it is too good and way too true.

Providing you with this opportunity is the renowned New Orleans restaurant Red Fish Grill. The restaurant receives sacks of 100 Gulf Coast Oysters every day, and March 20th will mark the day when chef Austin Kirzner will open one of these “big boys” and cook the restaurant’s three millionth BBQ Oyster. In honor of the occasion, the restaurant will be hosting an online competition asking oyster lovers (you) to build the next best oyster dish.

Ever since Ralph Brennan opened his popular restaurant fifteen years ago, the flash-fried BBQ oysters with Crystal BBQ sauce and house made blue cheese dressing have become its trademark. The BBQ oyster po-boy has also been very popular, winning the “Best Seafood Po-Boy” at the New Orleans Oak Street Po-Boy Festival two years in a row.

That being said, the three millionth oyster is extremely important to Brennan, and he hopes that he can make it important for you too. All you have to do to enter the contest is provide your name, e-mail address and phone number, and choose your preferred oyster preparation, flour (if you prefer your oysters fried), seasonings, and sauces to make the next best BBQ Oyster dish to be added to the menu. If you are selected to be the lucky winner, you will be able to enjoy a dozen fried or raw oysters at the restaurant everyday for the rest of your life without having to pay a dime.

Unfortunately, though, (or maybe fortunately), the quality of each proposed dish does not help each participant. Instead, winners will be selected at random to receive the ultimate prize of a free lifetime supply of oysters. The end date of the contest has not been released, so sign up as soon as possible! I mean, this sounds like a pretty great deal.
